Audemars Piguet ,Royal Oak Day Date Moon Phase Ref. 25594BA
This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day Date Moon Phase Ref. 25594BA brings the iconic integrated design into a more complex and highly balanced form. Crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold, it combines the octagonal bezel, exposed white-gold screws, and seamlessly integrated bracelet of the original Royal Oak with a complete calendar display. The warm gold Petite Tapisserie dial is arranged with pointer day at nine, pointer date at three, and a moon-phase aperture at six. Blued calendar hands introduce a measured contrast within an otherwise monochromatic composition, while the compact 36 mm case preserves the unmistakable proportions of the early Royal Oak.
Introduced in 1984, the Ref. 25594 is a direct descendant of the first Royal Oak Day Date and adds a moon phase to the calendar display. It is not a perpetual calendar. Its charm lies instead in the clarity of its layout: the day and date are read by central subdial hands, while the moon phase completes the display without disturbing the strong geometry of the Royal Oak. This reference remained in the catalogue for more than two decades, the longest run of any Royal Oak model of its era, but the 18k yellow-gold BA version appeared with only three dial variants over that period.
The early Calibre 2124/2825 is central to the appeal of this example. Based on a LeCoultre movement blank and fitted with a dedicated calendar module, it measures only 4.55 mm thick despite its self-winding construction, day, date, and moon-phase indications. Its 21k gold rotor, 32 jewels, and 21,600-vph frequency reflect the technical standards of Audemars Piguet at the time. Equally important is the condition of this watch: the case and bracelet retain their original, unpolished surfaces, preserving the sharp transitions between satin brushing and polished bevels that define the Royal Oak design. The recent service supports everyday mechanical reliability while the absence of original accessories is stated transparently.
